ASCA Celebrates First CIMA's Graduates in Islamic Finance


The Arab Society of Certified Accountants, in Cooperation with Queen Rania Center for Jordanian Studies and Community Service – Yarmouk University, Celebrated the Graduation of the First Batch of Participants in the Preparatory Course for CIMA's Certificate in Islamic Finance



IRBID, Jordan ------- April 24, 2013 ------- The Arab Society of Certified Accountants (ASCA) organized a preparatory course for the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) Certificate in Islamic Finance at its branch at Queen Rania Center for Jordanian Studies and Community Service – Yarmouk University.

Students from various universities and employees from major banking institutions such as the Jordan Islamic Bank and Al-Sanabel International for Islamic Investments Holding Company in addition to others took part in the course.


The course focused on familiarizing participants with the Islamic Commercial Law which included several topics, such as: Introduction to Commercial Islamic Law in relation to Islamic Finance, Sources for the Commercial Islamic Law; mainly the Holy Quran and Sunnah, the methodology used to solve modern problems arising in Islamic finance, old contracts that are included in the Islamic Commercial Law, observance of Shari'a provisions and the importance of Shari'a principles.


In addition, the participants were introduced to Islamic banking and Al-Takaful – products and services, which included several topics, such as: new developments with regard to Islamic financial institutions and systems, the main sources available for banks and how to restore them, the different products which Islamic banks have developed for clients, services and products provided in accordance with Al-Takaful, issues relating to share subscription, financial deficit and surplus and re-Takaful, and common financial and operating risks in the Insurance and Banking Sectors. And finally they were familiarized with Islamic capitalist markets and the accounting of Islamic financial institutions.


Mr. Salem Al Ouri, ASCA's manager, and Mr. Emad Rabaya’a, Deputy Director of Queen Rania Center handed certificates to graduates.The graduation ceremony included discussions with participants to assess the benefits they gained from the course and the positive impact it had on them, both professionally and practically; as the majority of participants were employees of the Islamic banking sector, they stressed that such a certificate would improve and develop their professional capacities.
