Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh Commends IASCA’s Participation in the IFAC MENA 2025 Conference, and its Commitment to Advancing Accounting Profession

RIYADH - The International Arab Society of Certified Accountants (IASCA) participated in the international conference held under the theme “Leading Transformation and Innovation: Global Priorities, Regional Solutions” in Riyadh. The event was organized by the Saudi Organization for Chartered and Professional Accountants (SOCPA) under the chairmanship of Dr. Ahmed Al-Meghames, CEO of SOCPA, and attended by Mr. Jean Bouquot, president of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC), and Mr. Lee White, IFAC Chief Executive Officer.
Representing HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, IASCA chairman, Mr. Tamer Tawfiq, Member of IASCA’s Board of Directors, took part in the conference, alongside more than 800 experts and specialists and 160 leaders from around the world.
IASCA’s participation embodies Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh’s vision for active engagement in professional and regional dialogues, enhancing cooperation and knowledge exchange with international accounting institutions and organizations. This participation also highlights IASCA’s firm dedication to strengthening its presence on the global professional stage and contributing effectively to shaping the future vision of the accounting profession in the Middle East and North Africa.
The Conference included four sessions covering the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and emerging technologies, the future of the corporate sustainability-reporting ecosystem, building for the future - assurance, ethics, and governance, and key drivers for the future of the accountancy profession. It also highlighted the role of AI in enhancing business and corporate performance, emphasizing that the world still requires an incorporated framework to ensure the ethical application of AI.
During the three-day event, participants discussed the future of the accounting profession and strategies to enhance practitioners’ competencies. They also shared their insights on global shifts in the accounting profession, the role of modern technologies and AI in advancing accounting tools and standards, the future of corporate sustainability reporting, and the importance of governance and professional ethics in a rapidly evolving business environment.
It is worth noting that the Conference is part of the IFAC Connect initiative that aims to strengthen communication and continuous collaboration between IFAC’s member organizations and policymakers in the fields of accounting, finance, and business. The initiative also seeks to expand and deepen dialogue to reflect the diverse insights and visions of stakeholders around the world.
Additionally, the initiative is designed to address regional priorities and interests, promote high-quality corporate reporting that supports decision-making and governance practices, enhance responsiveness to new risks and opportunities, and deepen relationships that drive collective progress.
The International Arab Society of Certified Accountants (IASCA) was established in 1984 in London, UK, as a non-profit professional accounting association, and was officially registered in Amman in 1994. It aims to advance the professions of accounting, auditing, and related areas of expertise at an international level, while preserving professional independence, ensuring protection for accountants, and implementing professional oversight standards to further elevate and improve the accounting and auditing professions.
